Bonfire Festivities

Boom, bang-a-bang

** BANG **

And a whiz, whoop, wallop.

It's that time of year, again, where the British public take to letting off dangerous explosives at home, or wherever else they may be trotting. And all because a chap called Guy Fawkes attempted to blow up The Houses of Parliament. Erm...

After all these years you'd think the powers that be would be listening to the people it governs. The War on Greed is a real threat to humanity, in my humble opinion. I hope that the protestors currently standing up against Wall Street, and their international counterparts, can help make a difference, peacefully and respectfully, in their fight against capitalist money merchants.

I guess attaining harmony and happiness in the modern world can be a difficult thing to achieve in such uncertain times. However, whilst pondering, all of the above, I came across this quote from the somewhat cheesy chick flick film: Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, where the reformed character Connor Mead says:

“Someone once told me that the power in all relationships lies with whoever cares less, and he was right. But power isn't happiness, and I think that maybe happiness comes from caring more about people rather than less...”

Be safe, and if you do burn, blow or cause a public disturbance, make sure it's done with due care and consideration for your fellow neighbours, the environment and the animal kingdom.

  1. It does seem odd that with all the other restrictions in the name of health and safety we can still buy explosives for home use.

  3. Well I didn't blow meself up, nor did I burn meself on the extraordinary large sparklers, either, that me best mate brought down from the smoke. Mind you, had the Aloe Vera plant leaves ready to squeeze, just in case!

Yup... Tis a good song, Valance.
